 Reading glasses have a number (+ or positive), that ranges from +0.5 to +5.0

This number indicates the power of the glasses. The higher the power, the more the glasses magnify text.  People above 45 usually need a smaller power like 0.5 or +1. As they get older, and the eyes weaken, stronger lenses are needed. Ready t o use Reading glasses usually only include a spherical power (which is the number on the glasses). It is usually advisable to have your eyes checked by your optician or eye doctor to ascertain whether your eyes also need a cylindrical refraction. This can be easily added to the same frame or glasses that you have.
